The President of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), Justice Luis Henry Molina Peña, informed that the Judicial Power is modernizing with a solid digital infrastructure at a national level in accordance with the new times, which will contribute to provide a more reliable, transparent and timely service to the population.
The also president of the Judicial Power Council (CPJ) said, in this regard, that a new case management system capable of handling currently 5,404 processes at a time is implemented, and that all judicial data is stored in the cloud with the guarantee of prestigious national and international companies that are experts in data management and cybersecurity.
"Today we have a case management system that is going to evolve to handle all Judicial Branch cases, which will be able to handle the entry, process and exit of cases, and that means that today all Dominican judges can sign electronically, he said."
He also recalled that the Judicial Branch is already implementing the digital signature and virtual processes thanks to the entry into force of the Law on the Use of Digital Media, which he assured will speed up the procedures in the justice system and decongest the courts. He indicated that 3,637 users have electronic signatures as of today.
"The Law on the Use of Digital Media is going to change the whole structure of work in the Judiciary, we are just starting. The transformations are beginning now, and for this we are working on a digital and physical infrastructure. The Judiciary has been growing as many more alternatives for access and communication," he said.
He added that as part of this modernization process, 75% of the courts of the Judicial Branch have fiber optic Internet service, laptops were delivered to all judges in the country and 49 user service centers for digitalization were set up throughout the country.
Magistrate Molina Peña offered the information during a meeting with 92 judges of the Judicial Department of the National District, the sixth of its kind, in which the Justice a Day strategy is presented and the changes that are being made to modernize the Judiciary and provide a timely service from the hands of digitization are shown.
The welcoming remarks were made by the magistrate Francisco Pérez Lora, departmental coordinator of the National District, who made a presentation of the department he coordinates, and said that the Justice a Day strategy has to be the goal of all actors in the sector, understanding that judges are guarantors of rights.
Present at the meeting were SCJ Judges Pilar Jiménez, Vanessa AcostaJustiniano Montero, Francisco Ortega; members of the CPJ Modesto Martínez and Bionni Zayas; as well as magistrate Guillermina Marizán Santana, Deputy Coordinator of the Judicial Department of the National District, who gave the farewell speech.
During her closing remarks, Judge Marizán said that Justicia al Día represents the challenge of demonstrating to society that the Judicial Branch is focused on work, "and that being responsible is our strongest commitment".
