MADRID, Spain. - A commission of the Judiciary participated in Madrid in the preparatory meeting of the World Jurists Association (WJA), where details of the 28th edition of the World Congress of Law to be held in New York in July of this year were presented, an event that was attended by the King of Spain, Felipe VI.

During his speech, the president of the SCJ invited the European legal community to participate in the World Congress of Law to be held in the Dominican Republic in February 2025, with the aim of seeking answers to address challenges that threaten the rule of law.

"When the rule of law is challenged, democracy is also challenged. Today we face challenges from many fronts and that is why it is important that we join forces and share knowledge," he said.
The congress will bring together world leaders, including heads of state, judges, legislators, academics, lawyers, activists and students to discuss a wide range of current issues that the legal community must address and propose solutions.

The Dominican delegation is made up of the president of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), Luis Henry Molina Peña; magistrate Samuel Arias Arzeno, judge of the First Chamber of the SCJ; and counselor Bionni Zayas, who were accompanied by the Dominican ambassador to Spain, Juan Bolívar Díaz.

The event also saw the inauguration of the World Law Foundation's Rule of Law Digital Center, the first of the centers that the WLF will launch in the five continents, which will be a space for the different actors to jointly promote its social impact, with a focus on promoting the importance of the rule of law among young lawyers, students and society in general.

As part of the agenda of the Dominican commission, a meeting will be held with the Minister of Justice of Spain, Dr. Pilar Llop; a meeting with the general director of Digital Transformation of the Administration of Justice, Aitor Cubo, with whom he will discuss the experience in digitization of the Judiciary of Spain, and a meeting with Anna Terrón, general director of the International Foundation for Iberoamerica of Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP).
