Former Dominican judge Ramón Horacio González Pérez was recognized at the Plenary Assembly for his independent, immaculate, honest and responsible performance of his judicial duties.
The President of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Council of the Judiciary, Justice Luis Henry Molina Peña, headed the Dominican commission that participated in the Plenary Assembly of the XX Edition of the Ibero-American Judicial Summit (CJI), which was held on Thursday 21 and Friday October 21 in Panama City. which was held on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 October in Panama City.
The commission was also composed of Supreme Court Justices Justiniano Montero Montero and María Garabito; counselor Modesto Martínez and Melisa Bretón Castillo, general technical director of the Judicial Branch.
Bajo el eje temático “La sostenibilidad de la paz social: retos de la administración de justicia en Iberoamérica frente a las nuevas exigencias del milenio», se inició la Asamblea Plenaria de la XX edición de la Cumbre Judicial Iberoamericana, en la que participaron las presidentas y presidentes, coordinadores nacionales y representantes de las Cortes y Tribunales Supremos o Superiores de Justicia y de los Consejos de la Judicatura o Magistraturas de los 23 países que la conforman.
Within the framework of the summit, Molina Peña, together with the Judicial Branch Commission, met with several of his counterparts: Justice Luis Antonio Hernández Barbosa, President of the Supreme Court of Justice of Colombia; Minister Maria Thereza Rocha de Assis Moura, Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Brazil; and Ambassador Alfredo Leoni, Head of the International Relations Office of the Superior Court of Justice of Brazil.
During the Plenary Assembly, the Permanent and Pro Tempore Secretariats reported on the products of the Working Groups of the XX Edition of the Summit.
These were: Ibero-American Protocol on Judicial Independence and Accountability; Constitutionally guaranteed and sufficient budget allocation; Bases for the establishment of a Social Protection Code for Judges; Statute of the Ibero-American Judicial Integrity Network; Best Practices for the development and implementation of IT solutions to support decision-making processes and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the processes of organizations in the justice sector.
