The Legislative Agenda Commission of the Supreme Court of Justice held this Wednesday the first meeting-consultation on the Regulations for the implementation of Law No. 339-22 on the Use of Digital Media in the Judicial Branch, with the participation of representatives of the main law firms and other actors of the country's justice system.
The activity, which took place at the Universidad Católica Santo Domingo, was held with the objective of generating a space for dialogue on Law 339-22 and its implementing regulations, in order to gather the impressions and recommendations of the legal community on the use of digital media in the Judiciary to impart and administer justice.
During the meeting, Justice Justiniano Montero, judge of the First Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, presented the Regulations for the application of the Law on the Use of Digital Media in the Judiciary.
He described the legal document as an institutional effort conceived and positivized in a regulation that seeks for the efficiency and dynamics of the Judicial Branch to assume a role in the face of a new institutional order and a new construction of the judicial service.
During the activity, representatives of different law firms and other judicial actors expressed their concerns about issues contained in the Law, especially points related to the deposit and security of documents, digital signature and the platform's working times. pointed out During the debates, he pointed out the flexibility and benefits contained in the referred legal text.
Judge Nancy Salcedo Fernández, member of the Second Chamber of the High Court, gave the opening remarks of the activity in which she expressed that the Law arises from the need to administer justice in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic.
Likewise, the Director of Technology of the Judiciary, Engineer Welvis Beltrán, gave a description of the digital platform and the different tools it contains, as well as the cybersecurity measures implemented to protect it.
It is recalled that last August 15, the Plenary of the Plenary of the Supreme Court of Justice invited the general public to participate in the public consultation process on the proposed Regulations for the implementation of Law No. 339-22, and opened a digital channel to consult this text through the link https://bit.ly/3QptF3O.
With the implementation of this law, users of the justice service will be able to view and follow up on their files and access to justice will be facilitated by allowing them to make requests and deposits, as well as consultations through the Internet from anywhere in the country.
