The Plenary of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) appointed this Thursday magistrates Vanessa Acosta Peralta and Nancy Salcedo as members of the Prst and Tercera Swing respectively, and Judge Moisés Ferrer as judge of the Segunda Sala.
This decision will be effective after the swearing in of Judge Blas Fernandez, elected as representative of the judges of the SCJ before the Council of the Judiciary (CPJ).
The Plenary of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) has decided the new composition of its Safter the new members of the Judicial Power Council (CPJ) were chosen last Friday. Justice Blas Fernandez, who belonged to the Prst Sala of the Supreme Court, had been chosen by the Plenary as its representative to the CPJ, which has led to the restructuring of its Swings.
Article 4 of Law No. 25-91 as amended by Law No. 156-97 specifies that each chamber is composed of five judges who are appointed by the Plenary of the Supreme Court of Justice at the proposal of its president, in this case Justice Luis Henry Molina Peña.
During the session, the judges of the Plenary of the Supreme Court of Justice expressed their preferences to the presiding judge Luis Henry Molina Peña, regarding the new composition of the Swings.
After listening to each judge express his or her preference, the President of the Plenary, in exercise of his legal powers, made a proposal on the composition of the Sessions. SThe proposal was submitted to a vote, which reached the majority of the votes.
In this sense, the First Chamber or Civil and Commercial Chamber is now integrated by its president judge Pilar Jiménez Ortiz; judges Samuel Arias Arzeno, Justiniano Montero Montero, Napoleón Estévez Lavandier and judge Vanessa Acosta Peralta. The Second Criminal Chamber was composed of its president, Justice Francisco Antonio Jerez Mena; Justice María Garabito Ramírez; and Justices Francisco Ortega Polanco, Fran Euclides Soto and Moisés Ferrer Landrón. The Third Chamber or Land, Labor, Contentious-Tax and Contentious-Administrative Chamber will be composed of its president judge Manuel Read Ortiz; judges Manuel Ramón Herrera Carbuccia, Rafael Vásquez Goico, Anselmo Bello Ferreras and judge Nancy Salcedo Fernández.
